Animal: Vaquita

The Vaquita (Phocoena sinus) is a critically endangered species of porpoise native to the northern Gulf of California. Known for its small size and distinctive facial markings, the Vaquita faces a severe threat of extinction primarily due to accidental entanglement in illegal fishing gear, particularly gillnets. With a population critically low, urgent conservation efforts are underway to save this elusive marine mammal.
